I observed 33 vehicles over a span of about 25 minutes. I saw many more cars than trucks or SUVs. However, there were more single passengers in the cars than in the SUVs. This shows that while more people are driving smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, they are not carpooling. This takes some of the environmentally friendly aspect out of driving smaller vehicles. To find out the true environmental effect of these drivers, you would have to analyze the amount of passengers compared to the vehicle's fuel efficiency.
